I have looked through the boxes many times over the years. The other day I got the button boxes out to share them with my daughter for the first time. She had a wonderful time sorting, matching, and discovering all of their treasures.

I love the designs on the tin, and the "Joy" on the other box is so cheery and fun.

Each box contains so many fun things. Audrey's box has lots of buttons still attached to their original cards. Awesome! I love the six black faceted buttons on one card for 29 cents! 29 cents - imagine that! Look closely and you can see an applique "H," a pair of yellow earrings with screw backs, tiny seed pearls, and even a marble. My favorite button is the blue button with white accents (it is around the middle on the left side of the picture). It reminds me of Wedgewood china. Which is your favorite?

I inherited my mother's button box (a tin) and ever since then I've collected buttons from yard sales and thrift shops. As a child I loved Mom's button box—to feel the buttons and to smell them! We used to make a toy we called a "singing button" from a piece of string and a large button. Something similar is available commercially now.
I just love buttons!! I have a collection of buttons from old shirts and outfits as well.
I really like that tin button box. You are one lucky lady to be given these treasures.

My grandmother had several metal button tins-but they weren't only filled with buttons-they were all kinds of small treasures that she had found. I will never forget looking thru those as a kid!
I LOVED playing with my mom's buttons growing up! Vintage buttons are the best - there is so much variety!
I love old buttons too. I have a collection. I see them sometimes in thrift store and they can have $10 or more on a jar of buttons! Love it. Thanks for linking it up to Home Sweet Home!

I saw your link on Christina's Adventures post. I have fond memories of dumping out my grandmother's and my mother's button tins. There is something so satisfying about sorting through beautiful buttons!
Even more special when they have sentimental value, too.
